About Our Rides
What to Expect:
The Club welcomes all riders to its regular Saturday morning rides which meet at 9:15am and depart by 9:30am. (Dont forget to check the levels of the rides!) Rides alternate between the East Bay and Marin, with at least one ride per month down in the Peninsula. Rides vary in length but average 45-50 miles. Level 1 and Level 2 rides are offered every Saturday, with at least one Level 3 ride per month (see below for level descriptions). All rides contain some hill climbing simply by virtue of where we live!
All riders are expected to have a signed waiver on file. If you are new to the club, bring a copy to the next ride.
All riders should arrive with a helmet, a spare tube, pump, and patch kit and know how to use them, as well as some cash, ID, and emergency contact information.

Level Descriptions
Level 1: For strong and experienced riders who want a fast pace (18-22 average mph) and can't wait for the next hill. In these rides there are few stops and there is no obligation to wait. Level 1 riders must be self-sufficient.
Level 2: For experienced riders who want a moderate pace (13-16 average mph) and who enjoy climbing hills. In these rides we adjust our pace as appropriate and regroup every 45 minutes. Level 2 riders must be self-sufficient should individual paces vary dramatically and/or there is not a designated ride leader.
Level 3 (Novice/Super Casual): For less experienced riders and/or for those who want a slow pace, shorter distance, and frequent stops. No one gets dropped on these rides.
Rider Guidelines
1. All riders must have signed a waiver on file with Touchstone.
2. Rain will cancel rides. However, some people may still opt to ride!
3. All riders should have mechanically sound bicycles. Please note that most riders will ride road bikes, so please consider this for pacing purposes.
4. All riders should arrive with a helmet, a spare tube, pump, and patch kit and know how to use them, as well as food, water, some cash, ID, and emergency contact information.
5. All riders should arrive with appropriate clothing for sudden change in weather.
6. Those uncertain about the route should bring a copy of the route sheet.
7. Please let the ride leader(s) know if you have never done the scheduled route before.
8. Those planning on bailing from the ride should let the ride leader or another rider know.
9. Riders are expected to wait at designated regroup points but can be flexible depending on group.
Ride Leader Guidelines
1. Ride leaders should provide all riders with an overview of the days route, including regroup points, water stations, etc.
2. All scheduled leaders are expected to show up, except in case of rain, which will cancel the ride.
3. Level 2 Ride Leaders are encouraged to implement a 'no drop' policy for the day, but this can be flexible depending on the group and individuals on the ride.
4. Ride Leaders are not responsible if riders get lost, however, they are encouraged to be aware of these potential situations and to take precautions to prevent such occurrences.
5. If a rider is injured please notify Markham Connolly immediately at (415)244-4060 or by e-mail.
