This weekend Diablo Rock Gym celebrated their 10th anniversary by having an ultimate fitness morning, a BBQ, and hosting the Reel Rock Tour. With a crowd of over 150 people, the gym helped raise $1500 for the Access Fund and the ASCA. As part of the festivities, the Touchstone blog sat down with DRG's first member.
During the construction of DRG, MycolHolton signed up at the very first member of DRG. "I have loved this gym from day it opened. My favorite part of the gym are the people. I have meet so many great people that have become very good friends of mine."

Last month, Diablo Rock Gym turned 10 years old. To celebrate the gym's anniversary, this Saturday, October 20th, DRG is hosting three different exciting events- an Ultimate Fitness Experience, a BBQ, and the Reel Rock Tour.

On September 1st, nearly 50 adventure racers headed to Diablo Rock Gym for a day filled with slacklining, swimming, climbing, and intense obstacles and adventure racing. Paul Hara made a great video of the day's adventures. Check it out!
On Saturday, September 1st, over 50 people headed over to Diablo Rock Gym for a day filled with excitement. The Labor Day weekend marked the first Adventure Race at the gym. Coed and single sex teams ran through a series of obstacles. From balancing across a slackline, to hiking, to climbing, to swimming, to a dozen other activities, the teams fought for up to thirty minutes before they completed the race.

Climb, bike, run, lift, crawl, swim, slack line, row. By themselves, those activities are fun. Put together, they are awesome.
On Saturday, September 1, Diablo Rock Gym is hosting the first indoor adventure race. On a course set up in and around the gym, teams of two will navigate for 25 to 30 minutes through the many activities, testing their strength, stamina, and ability to have a great time. The race will have a number of categories and a ton of prizes.

On Friday August 17th, a dozen competitors headed to Diablo Rock Gym to participate in the Bay Area Grip Challenge. Ripping entire decks of cards, bending nails, grippers, and dead lifts were some of the challenges for the contenders.

This summer, COCO Crossfit Stregth and Conditioning will be offering a strength and conditioning class engineered for youths entering 6th-12th grade. This will be a great opportunity for young athletes to learn metabolic conditioning, nutrition, speed development, running form, Olympic lifting, pylometrics, core strength, and a bit about endurance.
The COCO Crossfit Strength and Conditioning series offers athletes the opportunity to train and raise their fitness to an elite level. The program combines resistance, plyometric, Kettlebell, agility, speed and metabolic training to improve strength, running and work capacity.

You may have noticed pictures of outdoor climbing, pulverized phone books, or declarations of unfathomable amounts of boulder problems completed in one day on the Diablo Rock Gym Facebook page. All referring to the 'Challenge.'

Friday night at Diablo Rock Gym, a dozen people headed over to the weight section of the gym and had the first Bay Area Grip Competition.
The competition comprised of four different activities; grippers, two hand pinch, apollon's axle deadlift, and a overall strength test.Contestants had four tries to close the hardest gripper they could. The two hand pinch involved lifting the most weight on a decive. This focused on contestant's thumb strength. The apollon's axle deadligt required a deadlift on a solid 2" bar for the most weight out of four tries. The overall strength test required 38 different excercises that tested many aspects of hand and lower arm strength. From pinch lifts, nail bending, card tearing, to sledge slevering the competitior had 4 minutes to complete the most items before time ran out.
