Touchstone Climbing: Kids Programs

Touchstone Climbing gyms offer a variety of activites for kids to try rock climbing. Rock climbing birthday parties, after school and summer camps and teen programs are just a few of the fun rock climbing programs we offer for kids. From Marin to Berkeley, from San Francisco to Sacramento, we are the perfect place to bring you kid to try rock climbing.

Kids' Parties

Plan your next rock climbing birthday party, Bar Mitzvah, club meeting or special event with us in an outrageous environment! Our staff provides basic instruction and belaying for all party participants. Ratio of staff members to children is one to six or better. After climbing, celebrate in our private party area. Bring your own food and drinks or call for take-out.

Parties start on the hour during regular gym hours. Includes two hours of rock climbing and use of a party area. You must reserve your event at least two weeks in advance. A deposit is required at the time of reservation.

Price: $100 for 5 kids (minimum) $20 each additional kid

After School Climbing

Ten week sessions are offered from 4pm to 6pm. Call your local gym for dates & prices.

Suggested ages: 6 to 14
Days: Check with your local gym
Time: 4pm - 6pm
Price: $225 for non-members; $175 for members
Curriculum: Belaying, knotcraft, basic movement technique, rappelling, anchors, mock leading, bouldering, spotting, training, route-reading

Summer Rock Climbing Camps

Weekly classes start in June and run through August for children ages 6 to 17. Sign up for five days of climbing, three hours of instruction daily, six at Sacramento Pipeworks. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced level climbers are welcome. Call for details, dates and prices.

Please Note: Under-enrolled summer camps (fewer than 3 participants) will be cancelled 7 days prior to start date. Please call ahead to confirm dates. Children enrolled in the summer camp program will not be supervised by our staff after their class is over. Please arrange to pick up your children promptly. Please send your children to class with snacks or money to purchase snacks.

Children in the Berkeley Ironworks Intermediate program will meet their instructors at Cragmont on Wednesdays for a day of rock climbing. The Advanced session at Berkeley Ironworks will meet their instructors on Wednesdays at Cragmont and Thursdays at Remillard Park. Directions will be provided. Transportation is not provided for the Intermediate and Advanced outdoor programs. On Fridays, at all summer camp sessions, parents are invited to rock climb with their children.

Teen Climbing Program

Are you looking for something positive for your teenager to do in the afternoons? Are you a teenager looking to take your climbing to the next level and maybe even compete? Touchstone offersTeen Climbing Clubs that meet once or twice a week at your local gym for instruction and support. Please contact your local gym to for all the details on this exciting activity for teens.

Private and group outdoor climbing can be arranged. Let us customize a program for you!

Private Coaching

Our instructors are available for private or semi-private coaching sessions. We would be happy to tailor a climbing program to your needs.

Overnighters

Bring your scout troop, church group or graduating class for some all-night fun! The party starts at 9pm and lasts until 6am or later. Rock climbing, games, obstacle courses and competitions are just some of the things that will keep your crowd occupied through the night! Call the manager to reserve a night for your group.
