Touchstone Climbing Inc. is dedicated to the creation and operation of superior quality indoor rock climbing and fitness facilities. It is our goal to create a friendly, supportive, fun and safe environment where participants of all ages and ability levels can participate in athletic and social activities.
We are committed to reaching out to our neighboring communities. Each year we provide hundreds of youth-at-risk and adults-in-need with low- or no-cost access to our facilities, creating the opportunity for these individuals to challenge themselves and build confidence and self-esteem.
Our first gym was built in San Francisco's Mission District. Opening in 1995, Mission Cliffs captured the imagination of the city and immediately set a new standard for indoor climbing facilities world-wide. After the purchase and renovation of two additional facilities, Touchstone built Berkeley Ironworks - advancing the concept with full fitness programming and weight training.
Sacramento Pipeworks and Diablo Rock Gym in Concord followed suit, improving the model to make for a heck of a fun place to get fit. In 2003, we built in San Jose a new gym testing a bouldering-only gym.
Our newest gym is located in downtown Oakland, the Great Western Power Company. An imposing 150 foot tall smokestack cutts through the wall and looms overhead, making it an unforgettable climbing experience. With the opening of the G.W.P.C.Touchstone is our their commitment to creating incredible full-serive climbing experiences to a new level.
Touchstone Climbing offers a wide range of services to both members and the public at large. We have many programs for children, including kids' camps, after-school programs, birthday parties, and child care.
Touchstone also offers corporate programming which can range from facilitated team-building sessions to corporate parties.
