Last weekend five Touchstone Zero Gravity climbers, Cicada Jenerik, Alexa Nazarian, Hannah Donnelly, Josh Levin and Dylan Barks headed to Boulder, Colorado to exhibit their talent in the USAC SCS Open Nationals where the US Adult National Team is chosen..Zero Gravity climber, Hannah Donnelly wrote a bit about the competition:There was a substantial amount of both male and female climbers and talent; 44 males and 36 females, including the reigning World Champion, Charlotte Durif.
The format for qualifiers was 2 climbs, flash format. As qualifiers unfolded, both Cicada Jenerik and Josh Levin were on the cusp of moving into finals and with a few extended spots due to foreign nationals and continental champions, they both moved on to finals in 9th place respectively. The format for finals was 1 climb, redpoint. In the end Cicada improved her placing to 7 th and Josh placed 9th for sport with Dylan in 10th, Alexa 26th and Hannah finishing 30th for her first adult open competition.
In speed, Josh qualified for finals in 1st place and with an amazing time of 5.75 was awarded SCS Open Nationals Speed Champion. Alexa qualified for finals on the ladies side and finished in 10th place.
