Glen Denny recently released his book Yosemite in the 60's.  With text by Yvon Choinard, Steve Roper, and Glen Denny, this book features amazing unpublished photographs and essays about the first ascents of Yosemite's biggest walls. Local Bay Area climber and photographer Jim Thornburg also published a book earlier this year. Stone Mountains is a beautiful 320 page coffee-table book featuring Thornburg's 20 year tour of America's best rock climbing areas.  With essays by great local climbers at each area and exciting pictures, this book makes a fabulous gift for any climber. 

One of the best items that Touchstone carries are Organic crashpads.  The Laramie, Wyoming company produces the best crash pads around. Andrew Bisharat, an editor at Rock and Ice, wrote a review of the biggest pad. "This puppy—four inches thick, with an area of 36-by-48 inches when opened—uses two different types of foam. The first three inches of the pad are made up of the high-density, open-cell foam standard in most pads. Then, curiously, there is one inch of high-density polyethylene foam just beneath the landing-side of the pad. This foam is hard and squishy; it’s very similar to the rubber used in the soles of tennis shoes and sandals. When you land on the Full Pad, you definitely notice something different going on: the landing is soft, yet supportive. It’s a strange sensation, like falling asleep aboard an airplane—you don’t know how it works, it just does."
